Whether it was your longest relationship or a hot and heavy moment that still made an impact, moving on from an ex can be quite a difficult journey. And while nothing can cure the pains of the heart immediately, there are a few things that can make the road to a remedy a lot less painful to travel. Every breakup is different, but from our collective experiences, these are three tried and true steps that will help almost anyone get over the loss of a lover, regardless of the circumstances.

Here is the Pure Guide to getting over your ex…

The Freedom From Seeing His Face.

Friends on Facebook? Following him on Insta? Snapchat? Unfollow him on every single app you have. This is non-negotiable. You might have the masochistic desire to keep tabs on him, but what you are really doing is just holding yourself back.

“But Pure Guys, we are still friends!”

No bitch, you are exes first. If you need to, let him know that you will be unfollowing him on all social to make the transition easier, but it’s what you got to do.

Freshen up your Environment!

Have you been contemplating a drastic hair cut? Chop it off. Been thinking of changing gyms. Cancel that membership, honey. Wanting to buy new furniture for your place? Put it on the plastic. A change in your life can sometimes be the ultimate reminder that things are going to go on, and will ultimately get better. By freshening up your surroundings or trying new things, your focus shifts to your new environment as a sexy single person, not the old one with the ghost of your ex. Don’t be afraid of change, embrace the new and find a better you.

Fill that Calendar UP!

Ok, so you, if you are already broken up chances, are you already have had your mourning period at home under the covers. This is not the time to be alone. Fill up that calendar with quality time spent with friends, attending community events, or trying a new hobby. You know who gets over their ex quickly? Someone who is too busy to think about it in the first place.

We know this may seem a little simple, but hey, haven’t you overthought your relationship (and why it ended) enough? If you are struggling to stop thinking, give our three F’s a try and allow yourself the freedom to fail at moving on a few times along the way. Hey, sometimes it takes a few tries, but we got your back until it sticks.
