Body Positive: 5 Tips To Loving The Skin You Live In

When it comes to your body, health is important, and a bad self-image is the equivalent of fast food.

At Pure for Men, we believe that every person deserves to feel confident about their body from the inside out. Yes, we love sex and want you to stay ready for it. But sometimes, sex is only the cherry on top of feeling your most beautiful self. We believe that a healthy body comes in all forms, and we created a guide to help you discover your best self.

Here are the Pure for Men best tips to love the skin your live in.

Be kind to yourself.

If you constantly think about how you hate your body, it is a form of bullying and you need to stop. Be kind to your body and treat yourself the way you would want others to treat you. As cheesy as it may sound, a positive image starts with yourself, so love your body the way it is today. This is the easiest step to adopt and the hardest to stick to. So find ways to remind yourself to be kind to yourself. You and your body deserve it.

Do not sacrifice your health for your looks.

Some of the men whose bodies you covet are sometimes also the unhealthiest. Dangerous supplements such as pro-hormones and steroids as well as the misuse of testosterone supplements may make you look better in underwear, but they aren’t worth the risks. By putting your health first, you may have to sacrifice some immediate results, but your heart and your prostate will thank you later.

On your “ugly days,” find something else to affirm your worth.

We all have those days where we just feel “blah.” Instead of feeling defeated, focus on other attributes you are proud of. If you invest all of your worth into your appearance, you are in for a life of small returns. You are more than your body, you are your body of work, so laugh of the ugly days and focus on why you are more than just a pretty face.

Confidence is always sexier than a six-pack and a bad attitude.

It is as cliché as it is true. A sexy guy with a bad attitude can lose his sex appeal immediately, while an average guy with a great personality and loads of confidence can suddenly be the one everyone wants to sleep with, date, and marry. Learn this rule. Love this rule. Live by this rule. Your body is just fine, but your confidence might need to get in shape.

Craft your own gay culture.

You might think that gay culture is all about shirtless boys and bulging biceps, but that is coming from your own perception based on the world you choose to live in. Expand your atmosphere beyond the gay bars and pool scene and become involved in something outside your comfort zone. Attend an art function, form a book club or take a cooking class. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is something new that places an emphasis on something other than booze and boys.

Remove people who don’t see you as beautiful.

You can’t master the art of self-love if you have people surrounding you who don’t recognize your worth. If there are people in your life or on your social media feed who continue to bring you down or make you feel bad about your image, simply remove them. You don’t have to be rude about it, you just have to unfollow them and conveniently be busy when they call or text. Sound harsh? It isn’t. Learning to accept the people who bring you up and reject the people who bring you down is the most important part of personal growth.
